Biographical Information
Joel Hodge grew up in Brisbane and completed his doctorate in Studies in Religion at the University of Queensland. His dissertation was entitled “Uncovering the Secret Soul of the Sacred: mimesis and the word” and it sought to explore how Christian faith provides the basis for forgiving and non-violent resistance to violence and oppression based on RenĂ© Girard’s mimetic insight and stories collected from East Timor. Joel has an active interest in East Timor and speaks the main local language, Tetun.
